got a big brother version, with the remote, a long time ago, from Service Merchandise (probably out of business). It is the F605. I know this is an unusual review, but I think it is important to comment on the remote. IT STINKS!!!! The buttons are small and have little feel. You never know if you have made contact. So, don't feel bad about not having a remote on the 407. (I don't know if they are still using the same remote on any current models.) Also, the display on these Pioneer Jukebox Cd players are almost impossible to read at a distance (small light yellow), which makes a remote far less useful. If you can, locate the unit next to your listening chair.
These players are very nice. I love country and blues rock and I put original and computer made mixed discs into it, settle back in my recliner, and let the thing due its stuff. WARNING: On the 605 model, if you use the program mode and enter your songs and go to a normal mode, it erases all the program memory.
You must STAY in the program mode for playback. Instead, use the BEST memory. I don't know if the software on the F407 is different than the old F605.
